Join us, and CAC members from around the Midwest and Eastern regions for a weekend in the Shenandoah Valley. We will be based at the Holiday Inn in Harrisonburg (1400 E Market St, Harrisonburg, VA 22801) and include optional tours/visits south to Staunton, VA and north to New Market, VA.
The "weekend" is October 9-11, with extra days/nights available. The base weekend package includes Friday & Saturday nights at the Holiday Inn in Harrisonburg, and Saturday and Sunday breakfasts, and Saturday dinner. There will also be "after hours" parties on Friday and Saturday evenings. The formal tour is on Saturday, but activities are also planned for Friday and Sunday afternoon. You may also want some time to visit the Shenandoah National Park.
Saturday Tour
Guided Tour - the Virginia Museum of the Civil War in New Market, VA, interprets the 1864 Battle of New Market with emphasis on the role of Virginia Military Institute Cadets. The battlefield became known as the "Field of Lost Shoes", as seen in the Emmy-winning film.
We will also visit the nearby Shenandoah Caverns (with elevator service) and History of American Celebration on Parade, with floats from the Rose Parades, Inaugural Parades, and more.

Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum - The nation’s 28th president comes to life as you enjoy an engaging tour of Woodrow Wilson's Birthplace. Immerse yourself in the state-of-the-art World War I trench exhibit, discover Wilson's Pierce-Arrow limousine, and stroll through beautiful historic gardens. A National Historic Landmark. Staunton Guided Tours - Guided trolley and walking tours of historic Staunton and the area led by trained guides who know the attractions and the stories. Trolley tour through 5 of 6 historical districts –1 hr. $10 each for 3 or more persons.
Art Galleries of Staunton - Downtown Staunton boasts nine fine art galleries located within walking distance of one another. The galleries feature paintings, sculpture, blown glass, jewelry, photography and more.
Bruce A. Elder Antique and Classic Automobiles - Located in beautiful downtown Staunton VA, you will see some of the most beautiful antique, classic, and specialty automobiles on the east coast!
Trinity Church - Historic church and graveyard with over 25 majestic stained glass windows, including 12 by Tiffany Studios. Guided tour at 3pm- Free
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish - First Church built in 1845 – burnt down from heater pipe – In 1895 the church was rebuilt. A time capsule from 1895 was opened in 1995, contents on display.
